LED streetlight lenses from recycled plastic

aggione is offering versions of its Avika range of LED streetlight lenses made using recycled plastic.

We are “incorporating recycled PMMA into our range, derived from recycled industrial scraps”, according to the company. “Our team selected one of the most transparent recycled materials on the market: recycled Plexiglas 8N. This material, both lightweight and durable, guarantees high performance in terms of transparency and light diffusion, meeting the robust requirements of urban lighting.”

The recycled options are in two sub-ranges: Avika2X2 (photo below) and Avika8X1 (right), both nominally 50 x 50mm optics with the same PCB location pin positions and screw mounting hole. All are designed and made in France.

Avika2X2 lenses are intended to work with four 5050 (5mm square) leds, while Avika8X1 are optimised to match the lumen output (up to 2,500 lumen) of Avika2X2 lenses lenses, but using eight 3535 (3.5mm square) leds. Avika8X1 can also be used with 3030 leds. as AVIKA2X2 and is also

Avika8x1 lenses (left and above) measure ~47 x 47mm and are intended to work with eight 3535 (3.5mm aquare) surface-mount leds.

8X1MER (R suffix indicated recycled) is aimed at narrow roads (see note below) (EN13201 M and C class, IESNA* Type II) where road width is less than the pole height.

The recycled 8X1T3MR is aimed at narrow (EN13201 M class) roads, again where road width is less than the pole height.

There are seven 2×2 lenses (below right), three of which are available in recycled PMMA versions:

2X25050LN1R is for EN13201 M and P class and IESNA Type II Short roads, which Gaggione describes as medium roads, where road width is the same or less than the pole height.

2x25050MER is for wider EN13201 M and C class, and IESNA Type II Medium, roads

2X25050LW1R is designed for multi-lane motorways, EN13201 M and C class wide roads and IESNA Type III Medium roads, where the road width is wider than the pole height.
