TrendForce's latest data shows that demand will decline, but penetration will increase in 2022. The development of advanced technologies such as LED headlights, intelligent headlights, sign lights and intelligent atmosphere lights will support the market demand for automotive lighting in 2022. At the same time, the soaring cost of plastics will force the pricing of automotive lighting products to flatten or even increase.

As a result, TrendForce forecasts that the global automotive lighting market will be worth $32.68 billion in 2022, an increase of 4% year over year. The top five international Automotive Lighting manufacturers Koito, Valeo, Marelli Automotive Lighting, Hella, and Stanley have a combined market share of 65% in 2021.

According to TrendForce, the global LED headlight penetration rate will reach 60% for passenger vehicles and 90% for electric vehicles in 2021. The penetration rates of traditional and electric LED headlights are expected to increase to 72% and 92% respectively by 2022.

From a technical point of view, many ADB headlight technologies play a role in smart headlights. At present, the matrix design of 12 to 100 LED is the mainstream design, and the use of independent control of high-performance LED to expand the driver's night vision, effectively shorten the reaction time of the driver to the oncoming obstacles, and achieve better road lighting. At the same time, glare - free high beams can reduce the light to the driver, oncoming vehicles and pedestrians caused by discomfort.

The market penetration rate of ADB headlights was only 3.2% in 2022. ADB headlight market penetration is expected to have an opportunity to reach 13.2% by 2026, driving the overall headlight market value to $39.496 billion by 2026, with a CAGR of 4.7% from 2021-2026.
